Empowering our Communities, Protecting our Planet and Inspiring Change
About > Corporate Social Responsibility
Coole Bevis is committed to making a positive impact on our community, environment, and society whilst maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity. Corporate Social Responsibility is at the heart of our business, guiding how we operate and interact with clients, employees, and stakeholders.
Community Engagement
As a business, Coole Bevis is dedicated to supporting the legal profession. Our lawyers are recognised on a range of prestigious platforms including the Sussex Law Society, which aim to support the growth of the profession and help the community gain access to legal support. In recent years, we have participated in a range of fundraising campaigns to support those who require legal advice and do not have finances to explore this.
Partner/LLP Member, Oliver Maxwell-Jones, twice President of The Sussex Law Society, continues as Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Solicitor to the Brighton & Hove Estate Agent Association.
We have also worked with a range of local platforms, such as Latest TV, sharing free legal updates to help educate our community on new legislations and legal options.
Such achievements inspire our team, our clients and our competitors.
Charity
Coole Bevis are proud to have supported a number of local charitable causes. In recent years, we have raised over £3,500 for our nominated charities, including Wadars Animal Rescue, West Sussex Mind and domestic abuse charity, RISE UK.
In 2024, we were delighted to enter into a charitable partnership with Chestnut Tree House, as voted for by our employees.
Chestnut Tree House are a children’s charity based near Arundel, providing hospice care services and community support for children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire. They receive very little funding from the government so rely on the generosity of the community to raise the £5 million that is needed every year to operate the Hospice and provide care for children and their families.
To support this initiative, our employees have undertaken a variety of fundraising activities to support this deserved cause including the London to Brighton Bike Ride, charity bake sales and donating items to their charity shops.
In addition to our chosen charity, Coole Bevis retains links with numerous Sussex based charitable organisations. We have participated in the Martlets Hospice ‘Make a Will Campaign’ for the past three years and in 2023 helped to raise over £10,000 in appointment donations and £58,000 in declared pledges.
Environment & Sustainability
As a firm we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and closely monitor our paper usage and energy consumption.
All employees are encouraged to take the following simple steps to reduce their environmental impact whilst at work (and at home):
In addition to the above, the firm also operates a cycle to work scheme, which enables employees to purchase a bike, e-bike or cycling components via the scheme.
